The San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association Scholarship Fund (SDLRLA Scholarship Fund) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that awards scholarships and bar stipends to law students who serve the Latino and Spanish-speaking community. Since 2007, we have awarded more than $650,000.

What we fund

Two award programs

  • Law student scholarships

    Typically $1,000 to $5,000 for second- and third-year law students with ties to San Diego or Imperial Counties.

  • Bar stipends

    Typically $500 to $2,000 for final-year students, to offset the cost of preparing for and taking the California Bar Examination.

Our signature fundraiser brings together hundreds of judges, attorneys, elected officials, and community leaders to honor our recipients. This year’s gala is at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center.

What is the SDLRLA Scholarship Fund?
It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in San Diego that provides scholarships and bar stipends to law students who have contributed to the Latino community. It has awarded more than $650,000 since 2007.
How much are the scholarships?
Law student scholarships typically range from $1,000 to $5,000, and bar stipends typically range from $500 to $2,000. Amounts vary each year based on available funds.
Who can apply?
Law students with ties to San Diego or Imperial Counties who are enrolled in an eligible J.D. program, in their second or third year or final year. You do not have to be Latino or Latina.
Are donations tax deductible?
Yes. The Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization (Tax ID 20-8553848), and donations of any amount are 100% tax deductible as allowed by law.
